At the beginning of the xxth century, and more precisely in 1906, Sir Arnold Lunen introduced golf in Crans Montana. The Hôtel du Golf et des Sports was once a cabin who served as changing room, taproom and restaurant for the golf players.
It was at that time that the English customers discovered the beautiful and vast grassy valleys which spread out for many hectares from the forests of Crans Montana to the high mountain pastures of Lens.

The incredible view on all the valley of Rhône, the harmony between the woods, the green setting and the water sources captured these English gentlemen who decide to introduce the sports they used to play in their own country in this amazing mountainous setting.

The Hotel immediately became a privileged location who increased the prestige of both the Hotel and Crans Montana.
The royal families of Belgium, Holland and Portugal preceded many other royals as the Queen of Italy Marie-José or the Count of Barcelona.
Following the example of the Palaces of Gstaad and St-Moritz, the Grand Hôtel du Golf & Palace has been able to adapt to the social and historical evolution which has seen the birth of a new a type of customers with different needs.
